We have a couples of article that treat electric motorcycles, we don’t have much, because motorcycle manufacturers are struggling to offer a convenient electric motorcycle, because of the complexity of the process: electric motorcycles aren’t cheap, they are heavier than the combustion motorcycles, range and charging time and is what retain most of the customers, but in the other side they are quite (don’t like that), they have 0 emission, you have a plenty of torque from 1rpm, so what will happen in the next few years? Do we need this type of motorcycle? And the answer is yes! Absolutely yes, electric motorcycle are really important for the industry, and for us as riders, because they are an alternative, and better to have an alternative than nothing, and the answer for the first question is right on your display: HUSQUVARNA STADPILEN.
To be honest we don’t really know what the name STADPILEN mean! But we do know the designer, it’s from California, USA, and his name is Michio Papers, he had the idea to make an electric HUSQVARNA, if you pay attention to the name you’ll notice that the name is pretty familiar to you (if you are a motorcycle enthusiast of course) because last year at the 2014 EICMA, HUSQVARNA unveiled 3 models, and among, two of them had this Swedish type name: 401 SVARTPILEN and 401 VITPILEN, those concept shows the future of HUSQUVARNA(HUSQVARNA is under the KTM roof now, in case you were hibernating those last two years), and according to the circulating rumors we should see those two models in 2017.
ELECTRIC CAFÉ RACER:
The first impression you got from this HUSQVARNA STADPILEN, is the sense of details, this café racer give you the impression that an old café racer was fitted with high end modern part, and it is absolutely brilliant: Ohlins suspension front and rear (are you kidding me Michio where is the WP suspension), BREMBO radial bake, proper gear box with gear shifter(how can I complain now?), beautiful seat which can be extended to receive a passenger, clip on handlebars, beautiful rounded LED front headlamp, a sport design aluminum swingarm, and finally the Gas tank is turned to a storage, and the battery pack are beneath it.
The look of this HUSQVARNA STADLIPEN is just awesome, the technology and high end material use in this electric café racer are really interesting, but since we are journalist and we complain all the time, here what bother us: there will be no sound from the engine which is pretty obvious for an electric vehicle, which lead to the loss of the exhaust line, since you don’t have sound you’ll pass your time hearing wind noise and mechanical part working, plus tire noise on the road, finally I was going to complain about shifting but it seems like Michio has anticpate all that with a clutch and a gearbox, but where is the sound of the burble when you down shift?
We are really keen to see if this HUSQVARNA STADLIPEN will go to a production line of HUSQVARNA, why not HUSKY, just put our complain a part and make it happen.
